Parent child relational play
Parent Child Relational Play focuses on the importance of secure attachment, verbal and non-verbal communication and relationship strengthening through child focused and child led play.
After a family has experienced shared trauma, relationships can feel different or disconnected. Children can display uncharacteristic behaviour, and parents can feel unsure what to do or how to support them.
Support for you and your children
We Stand’s parent child relational play programme, provides parents and carers with the skills they need to engage in this form of play with their child or children.
Working one to one with a qualified and experienced practitioner over 4 sessions, you will learn:
the importance of play in a child’s life and how it is their natural way of communicating and learning
how to set up play sessions with your child
how to strengthen your listening and reflecting skills, allowing your child to feel valued and understood
A follow up session with your practitioner, will give you an opportunity to celebrate successes and explore any worries, fears or challenges you have faced in your play sessions at home.
