Creative arts therapy for children

After experiencing sexual abuse, your child, whatever their age, may have feelings that are difficult for them to understand.

They may feel angry, guilty, confused, or responsible for what has happened, and they may fear what will happen next. Talking about problems can be hard for children, as they may not have the words or self-awareness to describe how they are feeling.

Support for you and your children

Creativity is a child’s first and natural language. In creative arts therapy sessions children can explore and express difficult thoughts and feelings using media such as drawing materials, water, sand, miniatures, guided imagery, drama and puppetry, poetry, movement, and music.

Our creative arts team is made up of qualified and placement Art, Drama, Music, and Play Therapists. Sessions are non-directive, child led, confidential and held within safe boundaries.

The service is free and open to children aged between 4 and 16 who’s parent(s) or carer(s) are engaging in their own counselling process with us. We offer a total of 20 sessions, each session is 45 minutes long and takes place face to face in our London office.

Our creative arts therapy service would not be possible without the support of dedicated volunteer therapists. If you would like to be part of our children and young people’s service please click here to learn more
