Confidentiality Statement
We Stand is committed to maintaining confidentiality for our clients
Introduction
All information shared with us by our clients will be held in confidence and not shared outside of We Stand unless,
We have clients’ express permission
There are exceptional circumstances in which we will be required to give information to third parties
Condentially lies with We Stand as a whole and not an individual worker.
Confidentiality will be discussed with clients using We Stand services and they should be given a copy of the Confidentiality Policy on request.
Records
All records are electronically stored in our confidential database
Clients may request to see any information We Stand has on record about them or their child/ young person.
Information may be withheld if it relates to a third party who has not given permission for it to be shared or if sharing the information may put a person at risk of harm
Sharing information outside of We Stand
Whenever possible, an individual or their parent/ carer will be supported to share the information themselves
When this is not possible or appropriate, the person or their parent/ carer will be informed of information to be shared and their permission to share this will be sought and recorded.
Information may be shared without permission in exceptional circumstances
Exceptional Circumstances
We Stand employees and volunteers will only breach confidentiality if,
They consider a child or an adult with care and support needs is at risk of serious harm, or,
It is necessary to assist the prevention or detection of a serious crime.
Wherever possible, and if appropriate, individuals or their parent/ carer will be advised before any action is taken.
Unauthorised Breaches of Condentiality
If anyone using We Stand services considers that their confidentiality has been breached, they may make a complaint in accordance with We Stand’s Complaints Procedure.
