Specialist support, workshops and events for parents & carers

Our free workshops and events provide opportunities for parents and carers to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to support their children after a disclosure of child sexual abuse.

We provide a programme of workshops and events to help you to navigate this difficult time, providing support and connection to you and your family to move forward in a positive way.

Workshops

Workshops take place on a regular basis and can have up to 6 participants. Each workshop runs over two consecutive weeks and attendance for both sessions is required. They offer a combination of education and practical strategies, as well as opportunities for participants to share and learn from each other.

Therapeutic parenting

Week 1-

  • The impact of trauma (for both the parent and the child or young person).

  • Reflecting and talking about feelings

Week 2-

  • Parenting through trauma

  • Responding to behaviour and

  • Setting boundaries

Difficult conversations

Week 1

  • Understanding difficult conversations

  • How to start and respond to a difficult conversations

  • Open and closed questions

Week 2-

  • Responding to difficult questions

  • responding to new disclosures

  • Sharing information with others
